ANIGRE
Anigre (Aningeria spp.)
Agnegre, Anagrae, Aningeria, Landosan, Mukali, Kali, Mukangu,
Muna, Osan, sometimes misleadingly called “Tanzanian walnut” Source:
Africa: Color: Heartwood---yellowish-white to pale brown, sometimes with a
pinkish tint. Pattern: Lustrous but fairly plain in appearance and fine and even
in texture; usually straight grained but occasionally a wavy grain.
Characteristics: The siliceous content, tough yew small, is enough to make it
abrasive to cutting tools; generally has a fine uniform texture. Uses: Veneer.
Availability: Readily available with increased demand. Price Range: Average.
